Residual ridge resorption is a chronic and irreversible process occurring after extraction of the teeth. It occurs in every edentulous individual irrespective of the age, race and gender. Few schools of thoughts consider it as physiologic process while others consider it to be a pathologic process. This chapter highlights the pathology, classification and epidemiology of the residual ridge resorption.
